Cryptocurrency phishing techniques are becoming increasingly sophisticated, ZachXBT: Coinbase users

In the field of cryptocurrency, phishing and hacker attacks have been heard of, and many users are unknowingly caught due to momentary negligence. Recently, security company SlowMist shared a phishing email disguised as Coinbase, seemingly deceiving users into transferring assets to wallet addresses controlled by scammers.

The SlowMist team reminded users in a tweet:

These scammers are becoming increasingly sophisticated. They almost got scammed, please remember to check the sender's email

This type of attack has resulted in many users losing money. Chain detective ZachXBT stated that although specific numbers have not been disclosed in the past, based on the number of victims he has personally encountered, social engineering attacks/phishing scams carried out under the name of Coinbase in the past year have resulted in its users being stolen between $100 million and $150 million. All users must take this as a warning, and any operation must be confirmed repeatedly.

In addition to users, project parties and cryptocurrency practitioners are also potential targets of attacks. According to a report by TechFlow, several encryption practitioners have recently reported that X and TG accounts were hacked, and the source of the attack was traced back to the North Korean hacker group Dangerous Password through a security company. One of the account owners whose accounts were stolen stated that he did not click on any phishing links, and the specific reason for the theft is still under investigation.
